Happy New Year, 2013

Happy belated New Year, readers.  As is my custom, I took January 1st off to de-Christmas my home and garden, pack everything up and put it all away until next year.  The whole affair takes about a day and a half.

2013 has not had a promising start, with the Fiscal Cliff “deal” involving a $41 tax increase for every $1 in spending cuts.  Other presidents have found those spending cuts never materialized.  Paul Ryan was among the representatives who voted for the “deal.”

The sidereal chart for the new year promises much of the same.  Jupiter, the planet of fortune, is still retrograde in Taurus, the sign of money and this time (as opposed to the Dec. 21st End of the World chart) is in the 10th house of Big Business and Corporations.  Investors might do very well in the short term investing in foreign futures (Uranus in the 9th in Pisces), but it’s always dangerous to speculate on a retrograde Jupiter.  Jupiter is square to the Moon in Leo in the 2nd House 9 (again, money) and opposes deceitful Neptune in Aquarius in the 7th (partnerships and credit ratings; foreign policy; unions; warfare; and of course, marriage).

The chart indicates an increase in emotional confidence (Moon in Leo) in the government, which is represented by cold, authoritarian Saturn in bureaucratic Libra in the 4th house of homes, property, one’s children and so forth.  The Moon sextiles Saturn, which is a pleasant little aspect (relationship between planets).  Saturn, in its turn, makes the same aspect to Mercury and the powerful Pluto-Sun conjunction in Sagittarius in the 5th (entertainment, children – as in child’s play – and other pleasantries).  Those three planets, in turn, sextile Neptune.

All very nice aspects which will give people more confidence in the economy during 2013.  In addition, Mars in Capricorn in the 6th House of jobs and work trines Jupiter in the corporate 10th House.  As long as you remember that Jupiter is retrograde – meaning fortune either won’t last or it will turn against us.  They’re in a major-minor trine with the planet Uranus in the 9th house (the house of luck and foreign countries).  This Uranus rules the 8th house of politics and squares the mighty Sun-Pluto conjunction, as well as Mercury.

Sagittarius also rules guns and weapons, and the safety of schoolchildren will continue to be an issue in 2013. Look for the Democrats to be victorious in the War on Weapons. It will also seem nice and peaceful, but beware of Mars in Capricorn in the bureaucratic 6th house squaring Saturn in Libra in the 4th.   That’s the government seizing control of your rights through regulations and unelected bureaucrats.

As for mentally unbalanced people, the bureaucrats will deal with them in the same unbalanced way they always have, with the same unfortunate conclusions.  The 9th house, in addition to ruling foreign countries, also rules schools and classrooms.  Uranus also rules the sign on the 6th house of workplaces.  Nothing opposes unstable Uranus in this chart, which squares Mercury, Pluto and the Sun in Sag in the 5th house, a similar configuration to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

This is a chart where three of the five large, outer planets are in the upper half, or public, portion of the chart, and the personal planets are in the personal, lower half, in addition to the two controlling planets (Saturn and Pluto) in the lower half.  Even though this is a sidereal (global) chart, indications are that global events will intrude themselves upon our personal lives and liberties.
