Democrat Placekeeper Go-with-the-Flow Joe to Seek Presidential Nomination

As the good ship S.S. Hillary founders on the political rocks of scandal and ignominious town hall performances, the Democrat Party is holding lifeboat drills in case they must abandon ship.  Someone must serve as the masthead for the next ship.

The nominee need only serve as a placeholder for a better-qualified candidate.  The next candidate is still months away from being prepared to launch their own campaign.  The Party didn’t realize the extent of the damage to the S.S. Hillary.  To their horror, they’ve discovered the captain of the Hillary inadvertently drove spikes into the planking of her own ship and sent up a prison orange distress flag just for good measure.

Hillary is still flailing about on the deck of her ship, wondering why all the rats have deserted the ship.  Admiral Obama has issued the new XO his orders, giving him at least temporary command of the Democrat fleet, complete with his own flagship.

That captain of the bounding main is none other than Joe “Ho-Ho” Biden.  The cartoonish, buffoonish oaf of a vice president who is most deserving of the National Clown Nose; the idiot who once invited a paraplegic veteran to stand up to be honored; the most cringe-worthy Vice President of the United States ever to embarrass that noble, if under-appreciated, office.

Have Democrat voters absolutely no shame at all, no sense of dignity, no depths to which they will not plunge in their desperation to someone, anyone up for office, that they would resort to nominating this fool for office?

Remember these gems?

  • “J-O-B-S is a three-letter word”
  • FDR promoted his economic recovery program on television in 1929
  • “Remember, I said it standing here… we’re going to have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy [Obama].”
  • “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”
  • “If we do everything right, if we do it with absolute certainty, there’s still a 30% chance we’re going to get it wrong.”
  • “Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be Vice President of the United States of America. Let’s get that straight. She’s a truly close personal friend. She is qualified to be President of the United States of America. She’s easily qualified to be Vice President of the United States of America. Quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me. But she’s first rate.”
  • “In Delaware, the largest growth of population is Indian Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking.”

And these gaffes were just from the 2008 Presidential campaign.

Joe Biden is not merely a clown; he’s a corrupt clown.  Michelle Malkin devoted an entire chapter of her book, Culture of Corruption: Obama and His Team of Tax Cheats, Crooks and Cronies (2009, Regnery Publishing) to Obama’s running mate (what better insurance against assassination could a president ask for than a loser for vice president?).

In introducing his running mate “in front of the Illinois Statehouse in Springfield in August 2008…Obama introduced his partner as an insider’s outsider, a ‘working class kid from Scranton and Wilmington’ who ‘has always been a friend to the underdog.’  Obama praised his choice for the vice-presidency as a ‘unique public servant who is at home in a bar in Cedar Rapids and the corridors of the Capitol; in the VFW hall in Concord, and at the center of an international crisis.’

God help us.

“Above all, Obama said, ‘Joe Biden is that rare mix – for decades, he has brought change to Washington but Washington hasn’t changed him.

“Biden was only too eager to claim the mantle of Working Class Hero in his acceptance speech.  ‘Ladies and gentlemen, your kitchen table is like mine,’ he said.  ‘You sit there at night after you put the kids to bed and you talk, you talk about what you need.  You talk about how much you are worried about being able to pay the bills.’

“Your kitchen table, however,” Malkin writes, “is probably not like the one in the Biden family’s $3 million, custom-made, lakefront home – built and paid for with generous help from wealthy banking executives and developers.”

She cites the International Herald Tribune (in the text of the book, she writes “New York Times” but the footnote refers to the IHT), which reported in its Oct. 2, 2008 edition, “A review of his finances found that when it comes to some of his largest expenses, like the purchase and upkeep of his home and his use of Amtrak trains to get around, he has benefitted from resources and relationships not available to average Americans.”

Readers of the Wilmington News Journal wrote in to dispel Biden’s folksy image:

“Twenty years ago, Biden lied about his academic record and assumed (with conviction and sincerity) the life story of a British politician (Neil Kinnock).”

“It’s not just that he lies; it’s that he lies SO well that you think he really believes the stuff he makes up.”

“Joe makes things up, and repeats them even when he knows they aren’t true.  The worst one was about the truck driver who was driving when Neilia [Biden, Joe Biden’s first wife] was killed in 1972.  He maliciously lied, repeatedly saying that the (now-deceased) driver was drinking.  Lying about a dead man is the lowest of the low things one can do.  That is not “being human” or “flubbing the facts.”  That’s just plain evil.”

He’s also just plain corrupt.  Malkin writes:

“While Biden boasts of being one of the Senate’s least wealthy members, he has profited mightily from the perks of entrenched incumbency – earmarks, sweetheart real estate deals, and lucrative positions for his children.  Biden prides himself on shaking up business as usual in Washington, but he used his clout to install his sons in positions of influence and fill the family coffers…Biden helped grease the wheels for his son Hunter’s entry into…corporate law and hedge-fund management.”

Among the many corporations that flocked to Delaware to avail themselves of the state’s friendly tax laws (no income tax) and corporate governance rules, Malkin tells us, was MBNA, the world’s largest independent issuer of credit cards (MBNA was bought by Bank of America in 2006).

“Former MBNA president Charles Cawley pioneered the ‘affinity card’ concept by marketing credits branded by sports teams, unions and other special interest groups.  The 1990s saw business boom and jobs skyrocket.  Spending ballooned, too:  MBNA splurged on private golf` courses, vintage cars, expensive watercraft, Lear and Gulfstream jets, a helicopter, a lavish $56 million downtown Wilmington headquarters, and even an in-house barbershop and nail salon.  Managers gave away cars to top call-center employees.  The company amassed a $65 million art collection, and in 2001, surpassed DuPont as the state’s largest employer.”

“MBNA spread wealth in other ways, too.  United States Senator Joe Biden was a prime beneficiary of the credit card behemoth’s largesse.  Since 1993, the company has been the number one donor to his campaigns.  In 1996, Biden sold his two-decades-old mansion (a fixer-upper that had been slated for demolition) to MBNA Vice Chairman John Cochran.  The asking price was $1.2 million.  Cochran forked over the full sum.  Biden then paid $350,000 in cash to real estate developer Keith Stoltz for a 4.2 acre lakefront lot.  Stoltz had paid that same amount five years earlier for the undeveloped property.

“Stoltz told the Wilmington News Journal that “the residential real estate market was soft” at the time he sold the land to Biden.  But “soft” for whom? “

Comparable prices, reporter Byron York found, went ‘for a good deal less than their appraised value.  In comparison, it appears Cochran simply paid Biden’s full asking price.”  MBNA reimbursed Cochran $330,115 for the expenses, to make up for a loss he suffered on the sale of his Maryland home.  Biden tapped campaign funds to pay for his home’s lawn needs – costing a few thousand dollars every year, according to the International Herald Tribune.

“Soon after Biden’s 1996 re-election,” Malkin writes, “MBNA hired Biden’s son, Hunter.  By 1998, Hunter was a senior vice president.  Meanwhile, “Dad” was representing the credit card giant on it pet project:  bankruptcy reform (Biden would end up voting four times in favor of the company’s agenda.  The changes MBNA pushed for would make it more difficult for credit card holders to abandon their debt (That’s not a bad thing, in my opinion, Malkin adds, but the bill hardly matches Biden’s class-warfare populist rhetoric about the ‘rich’).”

In any case, a decade later, that’s exactly what credit card holders and risky mortgage holders would do.

“According to the Center for Responsible Politics, the lobbying industry kicked in$344,000 for Biden’s campaigns since 1989, making lobbyists his tenth largest contributing industry.  During the 2008 election cycle, he took in $43,000 more than the average $81,700 that lobbyists gave senators.

“What was the effect of these lobbying contributions?  Joe Biden himself said it best at a campaign event in December 2007, addressing a supporter named ‘Lynn.’

Lobbyists aren’t bad people.  Special interest groups are not bad people, but guess what?  They’re corrosive.  People who accept the money from them aren’t bad people.  But it’s human nature.  You go out, Lynn, and bundle $250,000 for me – all legal – and then you call me after I’m elected and say, “Joe, I’d like to come and talk to you about something.”  You didn’t buy me, but it’s human nature.  You helped me.  I’m going to say, “Sure, Lynn, come on in.”

Guess Donald Trump got that one right.

Malkin cites page after page of shady deals and corporate cronyism.

“Senator Biden’s good friend of thirty years, Joseph Cari, served as Biden’s Midwest Field Director for the 1988 Biden for President campaign.  Cari raised money for the Democrat Party for decades, serving as a key fundraiser for former president Bill Clinton, former vice president Al Gore, the Democrat Senatorial and Congressional Campaign Committees, the democrat National Committee, and scores of individual candidates.  Biden returned to Cari for advice on his second presidential run in 2008.  Cari’s advice should have been:  Stay away from me, buddy.

“Three years earlier, Cari had confessed to his role in $850,000 kickback scandal tied to the political fund-raising operation of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (who was later impeached).  The scheme was directed by Barack Obama’s old Chicago crony, Tony Rezko.

“Cari pleaded guilty to attempting to commit extortion in his role as a partner and managing director of a private equity firm that had received $35 million from the Illinois state teachers’ public pension plan.  Cari threatened to withhold $85 million in teacher retirement system funds from a real estate investment firm unless it hired a consultant of his choosing.

“At the behest of co-defendant Stuart Levine, who sat on the Teachers Retirement System board, Cari executed a plan to squeeze political or charitable contributions from their cherry-picked consultants, who were to be hired by the private firms in exchange for public pension fund investments.”

A few weeks after Obama signed the $787 billion, pork-stuffed “economic stimulus” into law and appointed Biden as the stimulus watchdog, Biden announced that the “sinkhole” known as Amtrak would get a $1.3 billion of stimulus funds to expand passenger rail capacity and boost Delaware’s economy.”  Only, the Northeast Corridor is only one of two regions where Amtrak is making any money; the rest of its rail operations are bleeding Amtrak dry.

“Nobody messes with Joe,” Biden bragged after being named head of the “RAT” Board (Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board).

A well-stocked library is an essential commodity for those watching our country sink into the abyss of Socialism.  Only in the United Socialist States of America could ignorant voters possibly contemplate a “President Biden.”

The theory is that Biden is serving as “placekeeper” or “bookmark” until John Kerry deems the time is right “to save the day” and like a political Mighty Mouse, dive in to rescue the Democrat from its Damsel-in-Distress and Biden the Bumpkin.
